Tell our senators:

Protect free speech.

The misleadingly titled “Antisemitism Awareness Act” is again making its way through the Senate. If successful, it would direct the Department of Education to use a definition of antisemitism that conflates criticism of Israel with hate speech.

This bill does not address antisemitism. Rather, it promotes censorship and undermines our civil rights. Our senators need to hear: This legislation is not what our Spokane community wants.

Sample Script:

I am calling to express my strong opposition to Senate Bill 558, the Antisemitism Awareness Act. I urge you to oppose this bill, which poses a significant threat to First Amendment rights. This bill would direct the Department of Education to use a definition of antisemitism that conflates criticism of Israel and its policies with hate speech.

If passed, the bill would give Trump a dangerous new tool for criminalizing the movement for Palestinian human rights, reinforcing division and crushing free speech — a direct threat to our shared safety. The Trump regime is already wrongfully abducting, detaining, and deporting student protestors, violating our core freedoms, and putting our communities in danger.

Can I count on Senator ___________ to protect freedom of speech by publicly opposing and voting ‘No’ on the Antisemitism Awareness Act?
